A Note from Our Pastor:

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”

Ephesians 1:18

Good Morning Dearly Beloved,

That you may know what is the hope of his calling.

The effectual calling of the saints by God is not a calling to an external office or to a ministry. It is an internal calling which is special, powerful, high, and heavenly. It is a particular blessing upon the elect family of God and their is a hope that comes with this calling.

The hope of HIS calling is made up of three parts that operate in unison.

The first being eternal happiness, which is the thing longed for. We study and learn about the mechanics of our eternal salvation; we give thanks that God in his wisdom set forth and executed a perfect plan. But the actual thing we long for, hope for, in this lifetime is the eternal happiness of being in heaven with Christ Jesus. A happiness that cannot be compared to or quantified against anything in this life.

The second part of the hope of His calling is the foundation of that eternal happiness, which is Christ Jesus. He is the very foundation of that which we so long for, and it is a foundation without crack or weakness. It is a foundation that in the midst of storm and tribulation allows our hope to stand sure. For our hope of eternal happiness is not in ourselves but is in Christ Jesus.

The third and final aspect is grace. Without the grace of God the weight of our sins would not allow us to experience the hope of His calling. Though we might be aware of our salvation the constant guilt and burden of our sins would make that knowledge grow dim. Thus, it is important that we are given grace that we might long for eternal happiness and know the eternal happiness we long for is founded in Christ Jesus.

And now, the Apostle prays, that these saints which were given His calling, might know more of Jesus Christ. That their eyes of understanding might be given enlightenment. That to their understanding they might also be given spiritual awareness to see more fully the things of Jesus.

May we simply pray for this blessing as well.

Our Prayers are with you daily,

Brother Jeremiah
