By the Blood – Ephesians 1:7

A Note from our Pastor:

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” ~ Ephesians 1:7

Good Morning Dearly Beloved,

Redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.

The blood of Jesus Christ is the efficacy of our salvation. It was not an offer made to us that we have to fulfill. It was not a partial sacrifice that has to be completed by our acceptance. The effectiveness of our salvation lacks nothing because it is held in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Make no mistake, as the Apostle has pointed out in prior verses the elect of God were chosen before the foundation of the world. From that point until the day of the death of Jesus Christ they were held in covenant love by the Godhead. Those that died prior to the death of Jesus Christ were held in salvation by the faith God the father had in the coming sacrifice of Jesus Christ. However, it was the shed blood of Jesus Christ upon that disdainful cross that is the legal power behind our redemption.

The purpose of the shedding of that blood, as highlighted in this verse, was for the forgiveness of sins. Not just the forgiveness of our sin nature which we inherited from Adam, but the forgiveness of each of our sins. They were all placed upon Jesus Christ and he died that they all might be forgiven.

Finally, the Apostle tells us the reason. All of it. All of the agony – mental, physical, emotional – the torture, the shedding of blood, and His death, burial, and resurrection were in accordance with one thing. Grace. The unmerited gift of God. The abounding and unending gift of God towards a people he chose in love.

The Apostle says our redemption, by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ, is of the riches of his grace. This earth has never seen anything more abounding than that.

Our Prayers are with you daily,

Brother Jeremiah
