In the morning let us prepare for the new day with the words of the New Testament and in the evening let us reflect on how God moves in the lives of his people.

Morning Reading from the New Testament: Luke 14: 25-35

Jesus said, “Choose the lowest place. A man gave a banquet but his guests made excuses. To be my disciple you must carry your cross.”

Evening Reading from the Old Testament: 1 Samuel 15-16

The LORD told Saul to destroy Amalek but Saul spared King Agag. Samuel told Saul that the LORD had rejected him. Samuel killed Agag.

The LORD sent Samuel to anoint Jesse’s son David as king. The Spirit came upon David. Saul sent for David to play the harp for him.
