In the morning let us prepare for the new day with the words of the New Testament and in the evening let us reflect on how God moves in the lives of his people.

Morning Reading from the New Testament: Luke 1: 57-80

The angel Gabriel foretold the birth of John. He told Mary, “You will have a son named Jesus.” Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord!”

Evening Reading from the Old Testament: Joshua 1-3

The LORD said to Joshua, “Arise, cross into the land. Be strong and courageous.” So Joshua told the officers to prepare provisions.

Joshua sent two spies to Jericho. A prostitute called Rahab hid them, so they promised to spare her family. They reported to Joshua.

The Israelites camped by the Jordan. When the priests carrying the ark reached the river it stopped, so Israel crossed on dry ground.
