In the morning let us prepare for the new day with the words of the New Testament and in the evening let us reflect on how God moves in the lives of his people.

Morning Reading from the New Testament: Matthew 5:27-48

Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart. I have come to fulfil the law. Whoever is angry will be judged. I say, love your enemies.”

Evening Reading from the Old Testament: Genesis 15-17

The Lord promised Abram an heir and many descendants. Abram believed. He was told that they would be enslaved but would then return.

Sarai told Abram to have children with Hagar. Hagar conceived, then ran away, but an angel sent her back. Hagar’s son was Ishmael.

God made a covenant with Abram and renamed him Abraham. He renamed Sarai Sarah and promised them a son. The men were circumcised.
