In the morning let us prepare for the new day with the words of the New Testament and in the evening let us reflect on how God moves in the lives of his people.

Morning Reading from the New Testament: Luke 15: 11-32

Jesus said, “Heaven rejoices when a sinner repents. A son squandered his father’s wealth. He returned and his father called a feast.”

Evening Reading from the Old Testament: 1 Samuel 19-21

Jonathan warned David about Saul. David escaped and fled to Samuel. Saul went after David but the Spirit of God made him prophesy.

David and Jonathan agreed a sign. Saul was angry with Jonathan when David was not at the feast. Jonathan told David, “Go quickly!”

Ahimelech the priest gave David consecrated bread and Goliath’s sword. David fled to King Achish of Gath and pretended he was mad.
