Good Morning Dearly Beloved,
On Thursday, July 2nd Governor Abbott issued a new Executive Order in response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Our numbers in the Amarillo area are rising as they are across the state.
From our understanding, nothing in this new Executive Order should impact our ability to continue to meet at the church house as we have been. The main focus of the new Executive Order is requiring masks in all public spaces in Texas.
While the Executive Order does make mandatory the wearing of masks in most public buildings, there is an exception for places of worship. The wording of the Executive Order, exception 9, is as follows:
“provided, however,
that this face-covering requirement does not apply to the following:
any person who is actively providing or obtaining access to religious
EO-GA-29, Exception 9
worship, but wearing a face covering is strongly encouraged;”
As such, we will continue to encourage those attending to wear masks until seated, but we will continue to not require such in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order.
As has been the case throughout this current situation, if you feel sick or know you have been exposed to COVID-19 our services are being made available virtually through our Facebook page.
Through this all, let us lay aside the things of this world, and focus on the assembling of ourselves together in the local body to worship our Lord. If able, we look forward to seeing you at the church house on Sunday.
May God bless you,
Brother Jeremiah
