A Note from our Pastor:
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” ~ Ephesians 1:4
Good Morning Dearly Beloved,
In verse three the Apostle tells us that we have been blessed with all blessings in heavenly places. In verse four, we begin to examine, along with saints through the ages, the substance of those blessings.
Let me first pose a hypothetical — no eternal harm would come to the Child of God if the Godhead had chosen that Christ would die for our sins, but no record would be left for us of his sacrifice. Certainly, a great deal of comfort and peace in this lifetime would be removed. However, the efficacy of the sacrifice of Christ would not be diminished by our lack of knowledge.
Fortunately, for you and I the Holy Spirit inspired men such as the Apostle to record just a glimpse into the truth of the work of our salvation. He begins logically with the first step, which is the earliest we can go back in the story.
The event the Apostle records happened before the world was created. Contrary to our minds understanding but is the reality believed by faith. Prior to the creation of the stars, the sun, the moon, or the planet we reside on God chose a people, in love, and gave them to his Son.
Why did he chose us? Because in his omniscience he knew that we would be a fallen people. He did not cause us to be a fallen people. He did not need us to fall in order to be glorified. He simply knew we would fall and due to his love he set a plan in motion for our redemption.
The Apostle then reveals unto us the outcome of that plan. The fullness being that despite our fallen nature, we are able to come before God and in doing so He sees us as holy and without blame. Not due to our own righteousness, but due to the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ on our behalf.
Let us come before our God in praise and thanksgiving.
Our Prayers are with you daily,
Brother Jeremiah
