A note from our Pastor:
“Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.”
1 Timothy 6:21
Good Morning Dearly Beloved,
On Thanksgiving Day in 2022, my writing from the Pastor’s Desk was to introduce the study of 1 Timothy. Over more than two years, each Thursday we have studied this book together. Exploring it primarily verse by verse to take the meaning from what the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy while he was ministering at Ephesus.
Through this study, we have explored the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have examined roles in the church and appropriate behavior. And, I pray, we have grown in our knowledge and defense of the faith held by disciples throughout generations. Next Thursday, we will launch a new study. But I am thankful for the time we have spent together in this book.
Now to our last study verse in 1 Timothy. The Apostle in this verse records his final words of instruction as he closes this letter. In the prior verse, the Apostle had warned Timothy about nonsense babbling and science falsely so-called. Both of these are items where men tried by their knowledge to prove they were wiser than the scriptures.
The instruction to Timothy is to avoid professing your knowledge so as not to lose sight of the truth of Jesus Christ. In reality, the message of Jesus Christ is quite simple. The application of it is a matter of daily effort, but the message of Jesus Christ is not complex. Therefore, the role of the minister is to preach the simplicity of Jesus Christ and support the disciples in living the truth.
The final words of the Apostle are a prayer. He is praying that Timothy has the grace necessary to minister to other disciples. Ministers are but people prone to all the emotions anyone else experiences. It is only by the grace of God that a minister is able to fulfill their calling.
Our Prayers are with you daily,
Brother Jeremiah
